What is it?

NMT is a bodywork modality that assists in recovery from acute and chronic pain, utilizing specific massage therapy techniques, stretching, and self care. Although considered by some to be a Deep Tissue Technique, NMT is not so much deep as it is specific. This specific and scientific approach to muscular pain relief will help to bring about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers. NMT examines six physiological factors that may create or intensify pain patterns: Ischemia, Trigger Points, Nerve Entrapment Compression, Postural Distortions, Nutrition and Emotional Wellbeing.

Does it Hurt?

As the practitioner is working with tight areas with muscle adhesions and trigger points, some discomfort is to be expected. BUT, here at Intermission, we work within a very specific range of discomfort and Phillip will always be checking in with you to make sure that the correct pressure is being used. Trigger Points and muscle adhesions are sensitive areas and great care will be taken to see to your comfort.
